Nothing is ever all bad

You know the law of physics?  An object in motion remains in motion unless acted upon by an outside force?  Something like that?  Anyway, that's me.  Unless I'm physically stopped, I won't stop.  I think they call it compulsive.  Thank goodness for my saint of a mother.

This morning as I was rocking the baby like a bleary-eyed zombie, my mother took the baby from me, looked me in the eye and said, "Take a shower."  So I did.  I even shaved my legs!

I came out of the shower and she was fussy and I went to take her.  My mother put a pacifier in her mouth, looked me in the eye and said, "Eat some food."  So I did.  I made a bowl of cereal and it was delicious!

She was crying again and with my cereal half-eaten, I went to take her.  My mother put the pacifier back in her mouth, starting walkingaroundnonstop, looked me in the eye and said, "Finish your cereal."  So I did.

I shoved the rest of the cereal in my mouth and went to take my now quiet baby.  She kept walking around, looked me in the eye and said, "If there's anything else you need to do right now, do it."  So I made a couple of phone calls to the insurance and electric company, paid a couple of bills online and folded and put away the baby's clothes.  It was wonderful!

I never would have done any of those things had my little mommy not stopped me and redirected me.  She did exactly what I needed - she gently but forcibly and capably stopped my path and put me on another and for that I'm so grateful.  Because of that, I have energy and we even went on a walk this afternoon - even the dog!  I strapped the baby in my Ergo and off we went!
There's a baby in there!

The weather was great and walking around put her right to sleep.  We came home and I was feeling so good, I pushed it!
Yes, she's in her jammies at four in the afternoon but
that is a baby sleeping in the pack n play!

It only lasted about ten minutes but it counts!  I got a picture of her sleeping in the pack n play!
Getting a little Moby time

Like I said before, she calms instantly when I hold her and she's asleep on my chest right now and life is good.  I'm clean, my legs aren't hairy, I've eaten and I even made it out of the house!

Nothing is ever all good, nothing is ever all bad.

It's been a good day.

  3. Thank God for MOM'S! I was holding it all together until BAM, your mom told you to finish eating your cereal and now I'm a total hormonial mess - i'm 6 months today. I was putting together a monthly collage of all of my daughters pictures for her first birthday next weekend (!!!!!) and I got teary eyed but not one of the darn tears dropped..now I read about cereal and I'm all over the place.

I saw an idea of a mom taking a pictures of her little one every month, in the same place (rocking chair) until she was one...it had to be the cutest thing I've seen. If I find the link again I will send it to you. I'm sure that'll make you feel like a hundred bucks.

  4. Sounds like a good day to me! Remember, this is only the beginning. There are ups, there are downs. Some moms get off lucky, some moms have a really hard time. Both moms can make it to the end, and you will to. =)

  6. I LIKE your MOM! :) That's exactly what I was saying earlier. Sometimes you just gotta let 'em be. :)

SO glad you've got an experienced mom at your aid to help you see you don't have to jump every time the baby cries. :) SO very thankful you were able to get some things YOU needed to get done, done.

  9. Good for you for letting your mom take control for a little while. I was always to stubborn to ask for/accept help and boy was that foolish! I'm glad you had an enjoyable day!

  11. Great post! And great mommy for helping you out in that way that only a mom can do. I am glad you posted the pics of the Moby. It reminded me to use mine and baby really does love it. Do you always feel like she'd going to flop out, though? I have only done the criss cross hold where she lays on one side...your way looks a lot more secure. Let me know how you like it vs. the Ergo! You are doing great:)

My mom came to my rescue when jasmine was 2 weeks old and I was running on fumes. I can't say I appreciate her enough for those 1st few weeks. Okay. And I just got teary.

  15. Thank God for grandmoms' right? I love how she gently led you to realise that it's okay for Sofia to be looked after by another loving person for a little while. You survived the seperation and dare I say it, thrived too! Please accept such offers of help- they are well meant and you also need a little bit of 'me' time- even if it's just so you can shower and pay a couple of bills, lol!
    You and Sofia look great!

  16. Your post brings back memories-blurry, sleep deprived, lovely memories. You'll eventually get the hang of it- til she changes 5 seconds later. LOL

I used to HATE when people would say 'sleep when the baby sleeps'because that was the only time I could get anything done.

This is baby boot camp, just take it one day at a time for now. You're doing great!

Just fyi, I'm 13 months in and still can't use the bathroom without my mini escort. Just consider it early potty training. :)

When you leave me a comment, my phone chimes. I run to it from across the house, anxious to read what you've said. I save them in my email and read them multiple times a day, which is why you may not get an immediate response but I promise I eventually respond to every comment that has an email address.

You make me smile - I just thought you should know.
